What happens

Scammers text pretending to be Canada Post, saying a parcel could not be delivered due to an incomplete address. The link leads to a fake site that steals personal and card details.

Warning signs

  • Fake website address The link 'post-canada.top' is not a real Canada Post address; real ones end in canadapost.ca or postescanada.ca.
  • Odd sender address The message came from a random-looking iCloud email address, not from Canada Post.
  • Asked to reply Y Scammers ask you to reply 'Y' or copy the link so the link works and their message gets past phone filters.
  • Vague parcel story It says a package could not be delivered because of an 'incomplete address' but gives no tracking number or details.
  • Pushy, strange instructions Telling you to exit and reopen the message or paste the link into Safari is not how real companies write.
  • Unknown sender Your phone warns that the sender is not in your contacts.

How this scam works

  1. You get a text saying a parcel could not be delivered.
  2. The message asks you to reply or open a link to 'confirm your address'.
  3. The link opens a fake Canada Post page that looks real.
  4. The page asks for your name, address, and then a card payment for a small 'redelivery fee'.
  5. The criminals steal your card details and personal information and may use them for further fraud.

What to do

  1. Don't click the link and don't reply, not even with 'Y'.
  2. Take a screenshot to keep as proof. Report it to Canada Post through their official website or app, and to your local police.
  3. Tell your family and friends about this fake message so they don't fall for it.
  4. Then delete the message and block the sender.
