The real message, with personal details covered.

What happens

Scammers email people saying their cloud storage subscription has expired and their files will be deleted in 48 hours. A "renew now" button leads to a fake payment page that steals card details.

Warning signs

  • Strange sender address The email comes from a random-looking address (ittawamba23.com) that has nothing to do with a real cloud company.
  • Threat of deleting files It says your account will be stopped and all your data lost in 48 hours, to make you panic.
  • Pushes you to click and pay The big "ATJAUNOT TAGAD" (Renew now) button wants you to pay on a page the scammer controls.
  • No real company name It does not say which company it is from, and the logo area is just a blank white box.
  • Fake special offer A "90% special offer" and an expiry date far in the future are used to look real and tempt you.
  • Generic and vague There is no name for you, only a made-up account number, and it claims they tried to contact you many times.

How this scam works

  1. The scammers send thousands of emails pretending your cloud storage subscription has run out.
  2. They scare you with a 48-hour deadline and say your photos and files will be erased.
  3. The button takes you to a fake page that looks like a payment form.
  4. You type your card details, and sometimes a bank code, on that page.
  5. The criminals use your card details to take money or to sign you up for hidden payments.

What to do

  1. Don't click the button or any link, and don't reply or pay anything.
  2. Take a screenshot to keep as proof.
  3. If you have a real cloud storage account, check it only through the company's official app or website that you open yourself, not from this email.
  4. Tell your family and friends so they are warned too.
